1. The length of the essay should be within 2000 words (excluding in-text citation and reference list) with a +10% leeway (2200 words max).
2. The essay should analyse primary texts and synthesise secondary texts to build a coherent argument.
3. The primary text should be the original texts of the political thinker. E.g. Pericles Funeral Oration. The secondary source should be anything the comments on those primary texts.
4. Analyse both primary and secondary texts to recognise different points of view and evaluate them.
5. The essay should utilise a minimum of 12 -15 references.
6. Use “TEECL” format for body paragraphs:
T-opic Sentence: to inform the readers on the main idea of that paragraph.
E-xplanation: explain what you mean
E-vidence: provide primary and secondary evidences (sources)
C-omment: build your argument after analysing the sources.
L-ink: summarise the main ideas of the body paragraph and make it clear on how it support the overall argument.
